Half Court Game Down the Line
Player placement
- Players A and B set up on opposing baselines - Player A in the ad side of his/her court and Player B in the deuce side of his/her court (down the line from eachother)
Drill
- Players are only allowed to use half the court including the doubles alley.
- Player A delivers a drop-hit serve to player B, the serve has to land behind the service line.
- Players then play out the point to the best of their abilities.
- The first to 21 points wins.
- The serves change places every 2 points.
Variety
- This drill can be done using only the alley, or crosscourt.
- Another variation could be to require the receiver of a short shot to move in, approach, then attack the net.
- The player that attacks the net can only move back if the other player delivers a lob, then the player can stay back or not.
